Camp Location
A fishing camp must sit within seconds of water access and minutes of wood supply. The ideal spot has natural windbreak, shallow fishing entry, and flat ground for shelter. Moving a camp after Day 2 is costly—scout on Day 1 before committing.
Link shelter within 10–15 steps of the fishing hole so you can retreat to warmth between catches.
Processing Station
Dedicate a covered corner for cleaning and cooking fish. Raw fish processed in the cold drains warmth faster. Keep a fire or hot coals nearby—see How to Fish for Food for timing.
Storage bins or ground piles organized by cooked versus raw prevent accidental hunger penalties.
Safety Considerations
Do not fish during peak cold without intermittent warming breaks. Night fishing is high risk unless shelter and fire are steps away. Alpha ice mechanics may crack or shift—always face an exit route.
